HTI Plastics has many certifications and affiliations that proves to customers our commitment and dedication to manufacturing high-quality products. One of HTI Plastics certifications includes the NSF International, formerly known as National Sanitation Foundation.
The NSF International is an independent, accredited organization that offers standards development, testing, certification, auditing, inspection, as well as guidance of corrective actions. The NSF certification program helps protect the world’s food, water, consumer product, and the environment. An NSF food Safety Audit plays a key role in verifying that proper food safety practices are in place at packaging manufacturing plants.
So, how does a company get certified by the NSF International?
HTI is audited by the NSF annually to demonstrate compliance to Food Packaging regulations in all areas of the facility, including but not limited to, administration, environment controls, sanitation, housekeeping, storage & shipping, training & product Defense. The scope of these audits broadly covers all of HTI Plastics’ Quality System, however, the main focus is on processes for HTI Plastics’ injection molded bone discs (food packaging items to cover bone-in ham and other meat cuts) for the food industry.
Most importantly, NSF certification is not a one-time event but involves regular on-site inspections of manufacturing facilities to ensure that they continue to meet the same high standards required to maintain certification over time. If for any reason, a product fails to meet one or more of the certification criteria, NSF may take enforcement actions including product hold, product recall, public notification, or de-certification.
